Kids, Kitchen, and Cleaning

This last week has been filled with a lot of activities, events, and projects!  I'll begin with 'Kids!'

We painted Ada's toe nails! She has also been letting me put her hair into a ponytail.  I figured out that instaDry polish works great!

Ada also discovered some new 'hats' and that she fits in her old swing.  It has made for a great indoor activity during these hot AZ afternoons! She continues to enjoy her time on 'Starfall.com.' I also brought out a few of the puzzles she received at Christmas. It's a fun way to review letters with her!

Henry has enjoyed playing on his mat and taking baths. Although, he doesn't like the bath, he enjoys the cozy towel afterwards.

Ada and Henry also enjoyed some brother/sister movie time!

In the kitchen I have been trying to come up with different morning drinks.  I attempted a Strawberry-Lemonade smoothie which was quite good.  I also have started protein shakes in the morning. We had some Whey protein chocolate powder.  I has really helped me get started with these early mornings!

For dinner this week, we enjoyed some really great homemade sub sandwiches! I found a great recipe for dressing, however, I did adjust the recipe by substituting onion flakes for powder and I left out the celery salt. Walmart sells packaged ham and salami sorted in sections for individual subs which made this quite easy.  I also bought their breadWe enjoyed this so much we have had it multiple times.

Finally, this weekend I created my own cloth diaper detergent and laundry detergent from this site!

This summer has become quite the project time for me! I am looking forward to many more! Here's to health! (and the home) Cheers!

Week by Week

Well it's probably been about two weeks since I posted.  I have realized I need to prioritize things if I am going to take care of my two kiddos.  We have been enjoying green smoothies! (courtesy of Dad!)

I have been trying to drink my smoothie with Ada so she'll finish it.  She is definitely a lady on the run, so she'll forget about it.  Here we are enjoying some 'mommy/daughter smoothie time!'

                                                                       Yummy!

                                                                         Cheers!

We have been eating some healthy, reasonably priced, meals, but I always forget to take photos! I am hoping to remember that! This week we had some homemade pizza with the dough from "Artisan Bread in 5 min a day!"  This was given to me by a friend and it stores in your fridge for two weeks.  We ate pizza every Friday night last summer.  It was great.  You can make any kind of pizza, as well as other bread items, with this dough.  I just use the basic all-purpose flour from Walmart and it works great!

Mother's day was a wonderful time. We got to introduce Henry to his great-grandparents and enjoy lunch at Paradise Bakery with the Hunt grandparents.

Henry meeting Great-Grandma Shirley Hunt - - Ada is named after her sister!

Four generations of Hunt men! (mommy is still learning the camera!)

At home we have been enjoying lots of play time! Ada has now learned how to use the mouse on our computer and navigates quite successfully through Starfall's ABC site!  She knows all her letters and most of the sounds! We are very proud of her.

I recently got out my old Graco swing chair for Henry to enjoy time outside with his sister.  Apparently some old habits never die! ;)

Aside from planning and executing healthy meals, my summer goal is to organize our home.  I have begun using Pinterest and reading blogs about organizing.  I never knew there were other Type-A people like me who are even more organized! ;)  My favorite right now is 31 days to an organized home.  I hope to post pics of this as well!  Here's to Health! (and organization!) Cheers!

2012 - - continuing the journey

Well it's almost four weeks since I had my second child, Henry!

I've got about 15 lbs to lose and I (along with my husband) am starting up the green smoothie/healthy meals routine.  My goal is to get down to my ideal weight by August.  Today we started off with a green smoothie.

For my mid-morning snack, I will be enjoying a bowl of plain yogurt and homemade granola.

Ada is enjoying her smoothie this morning as well.  (she is now 2 yrs 8 mo)  Obviously Henry is getting his in a more round-about way. ;)

I received a Canon EOS 40D for my birthday! (thanks to my amazing FIL)  I plan on putting up a good amount of photos. :)

This is short...but it's back to routine and management! Here's to Health! Cheers!
